About the Council
The Walker County Children's Policy Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to identifying and helping fill the needs of families and children of Walker County, Alabama. The council is a community resource that collaborates with and is supported by a broad cross-section of community organizations, groups and individuals. The council desires to improve the lives and opportunities for children and families.
The Children's Policy Councils were created by legislation in 1999, replacing the former Juvenile Justice Coordinating Councils. The Walker County CPC was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in December 2001. The council is made up of mandated members of state agencies and concerned citizens.
It is not the intention of the Walker County Children's Policy Council to provide advice, or recommendations, but rather to provide users with information to better understand resources.
