About the Program
The Jasper Area Ministerial Emergency Service (J.A.M.E.S.) offers support to those who meet financial requirements. The goal of the Jasper Area Ministerial Emergency Service is to assist those who are in emergency situations and enable them to resume an independent financial lifestyle. It is not the intention of this organization to contribute to maintaining a lifestyle of dependence on assistance.
J.A.M.E.S. had been operational since the end of July 2004. The purpose of establishing the organization is twofold: first, to provide the participating area churches a central location to provide financial assistance to those in emergency situations; second, to centralize the data to avoid abuse of financial assistance provided by the local churches.
J.A.M.E.S. is a long-term goal of the Greater Jasper Area Ministerial Association. It is a non-profit organization with 501(c)-3 status in compliance with the Internal Revenue Service.

Requirements for Assistance
Financial resources are limited at this time. It is the purpose of J.A.M.E.S., Inc. to assist only those considered to be in emergency situations. The organization does not wish to contribute to maintaining a lifestyle of continual assistance. Applicants living in the Jasper zip codes of 35501, 35503, and 35504 are eligible for assistance and considered first. Persons living in Walker County beyond the Jasper zip codes can apply and will be considered if funds are available. The reasoning for this is simply that the churches participating are within these zip codes.
